Seriously, I thought Tasogare and Sankarea were two of the more watchable shows last season. Japan logic strikes again, I guess.

Yuuko has a shit ending so it deserved that shit sales.
Sankarea is just not very good. Maybe it is cause I have read the manga but the anime just cant keep my interest.
Hyouka actually improved. Seeing the MC getting raped so hard in the last ep was priceless.

Tsuritama and QB are DVD only so far, shouldn't have put it there since both should rank on BD.

>>41498
It's not selling especially well. It will end up having the highest average of spring shows (since Hyouka is 11 volumes and AKB's first volumes was only 2k JPY) but no series this season will be an actual hit.

Actually, Sankarea is most likely going to rank on the final list this week. This preliminary had a rather insane threshold of over 3k BDs. Obviously no stellar sales but far from being the worst seller.

Can't be assed to check Amnesia because I hate Oonuma and hope all his shows do like shit.

A couple jokes with no actual meaning. The Manabi line stands for Manabi Straight's sales, which was reported to barely break even. People tend to use it to argue whether a show made money or not, but it's pretty old already and anyone with a functional brain would realize it really depends on how much has been invested in the production.
Meanwhile, the anime saving line was set by our lord Yamakan, who proclaimed Fractale was going to save this medium. Then it sold 883 units.
>> No.41508
>>41505
Manabi Line is so called because Ufotable said they'd have to sell exactly that number of DVDs to break even on Manabi Straight.
Anime Saving Line is how much Yakaman's mighty Fractale sold, the show which he promised us would deliver our lost otaku souls from the evils of the modern anime industry and lead us all into a bright new future of Japanese cartoons. 883 is also known as a Fractale, in honour of everything it did for us. Bakemonogatari weighs in at more than 65fct, for example.

Kuroko no Basket will be one of the best sellers this season, maybe even top the chart. Selling more DVDs than BDs of course, as per fujoshi norm. Accel World will do around ~7k and probably rank both formats. Apollon's sales will be quite poor but it's honestly doing better than I expected. Its DVDs might rank if there's some kind of miracle. Uppote, SSO and Medaka are doing so bad they might not rank in either format. It's hard to say anything when they have so few points, but all of them are flopping for sure.

(Preliminary) second volume results for the top sellers

-Hyouka (7,050 BD) maintained its sales quite well and even managed to improve BD-wise, though it lost the 1k DVD the first volume did. Could be the preliminary threshold of 1.k DVDs, but I didn't see it rank in the daily reports so it might have dropped enough not to rank. In spite of that, Hyouka's looking solid and consistent. Not much going on next week so I think it's a given the BDs will rank again, probably even for a third week like the first volume.

-Nyarlko (5,599 BD, 1,190 DVD) on the other hand isn't shaping to have a nice average. Down almost 1k compared to the first volume's week1. Looks like its average sales will be lower than Hyouka's despite having less volumes. So much for the supposed hit!

-Saki Achiga-hen (4,718 BD) not faring well either. Not that it honestly matters since the franchise is doing better than ever and the show did an excellent job as advertisment. I wouldn't count on a second week ranking but you never know. Its DVDs are most likely gone for good, if anything we'll see them again for the last volume that will include unaired episodes.

-AKB (unranked in the preliminary takes a huge blow and sinks greatly. Not surprising since the first volume was heavily discounted, but still impressive. Daily rankings should be taken with a grain of salt, but according to them the BDs will be significantly lower than Symphogear Vol.5 (Vol.4 did 3.4k) and DVDs would have no chance to rank. ~60% drop? Wow.

Oricon only tracks a certain number of titles, meaning that there will always be a cut-off point. It's usually referred to as threshold since it's the minimum value to make it into the charts. Busy weeks like the past one have a really high threshold, especially for the preliminary report where Oricon lists less releases.

It's because of stuff like this that Oricon isn't that reliable. But to be fair - if DVDs ranking or not make a difference, the show most likely flopped either way.

Hyouka vol2 ended with over 1k DVDs for a total of 8,146 BD+DVD. Better than the vol1's first week, really looking solid. AKB managed to slip in some DVDs as well, so it only goes down by 40%. Natsukise suffers the effects of a discounted first volume, losing a third of its sales.

Not worthy of a new thread, but three summer shows are already out. TariTari confused the hell out of everyone by selling 7758 BDs, which is about half of what was expected. You rarely see the amazon stalker fuck up this much. Unsurprising 4278 BD+DVD for Nobuna, depressing 1900 BD+DVD for Moyashimon Returns. 80% down on S1's first volume.

Nothing right now, two weeks until the first huge batch of summer series.

There's honestly nothing I really care enough about from this season to want to see it sell well. There were a couple of OK shows, but nothing really great. Thank fuck the new season starts soon.

Mostly better than expected.

YuruYuri has been saved by the bundled tickets, proving live events are kind of a big deal for this franchise. It's dropped compared to the first season (7.7k vs 9.7k @week1) but considering it was going to sell around 4k before the extras were announced, that's pretty damn good.

Horizon wasn't as overestimated as it could have been. It really depends on how good its second week is, but overall the show shouldn't drop more than a 20% from S1's 21k average.

The disappointment would be Jintai, which I hoped to see close to 7k. Either the great last week rankings lead to stalker overestimation or Amazon running out of stock actually limited sales. We'll see next week.

I've been wondering, what does it mean when there are no numbers, just ***?

That it hasn't sold enough to rank. Both will most likely rank in the full list somewhere below 2k.

So if the Binbougami box isn't ranked it's just because it's not out yet, and therefore hasn't been sold?

The BD hasn't ranked because it didn't sell enough to make it to the incomplete tuesday list. The DVD hasn't ranked because it's not out yet... but it'll sell so bad that it might not rank period.
