http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2012-07-05/jojo-bizarre-adventure-gets-tv-anime-in-october-and-gameWe live in a glorious time, my friends
I'm excitied yet at the same time scared for what it might be. I just wonder what part it's going to start with or if it's just go try to adapt the whole thing and what studio is going to do it.
YES!! I just came with the force of a thousand Star Platinums!
Best news.
Do any of you /bun/s speak moonspeak? I really wish I could understand what they were saying!
I should read this manga some day huh
>>41537You really should. The start will be tough, but once you pass part 1 (about 50 chapters), you'll probably be very motivated to read the rest.
>>41538Maybe even not that long. For me it was easy from when Speedwagon was introduced (around chapter 8).
>>41529>CyberConnect2Glorious, indeed.
I wonder how some of the stranger Stands will work in the fighting game.
>>41549They probably won't include some of the less physical ones. I'm wondering how Giorno and Buccellati are going to be. Really looking forward to playing as Jolyne. For some reason I'm growing to like her as I'm rereading Stone Ocean.
>>41551Well Gold Experience Requiem, King Crimson, Stairway to Heaven (though just because of how weird it was they'll probably use C-Moon), Dirty Deeds Done for Cheap -Love Train-, and Tusk Part 4 are pretty much confirmed for being in the game due to being protagonist and antagonist Stands.
>>41551Joylne is my favorite Jojo, actually.
My predictions for who will be in the fighting game.Phantom Blood:Jonathan JoestarDio BrandoZeppeli Maybe Speedwagon as a joke characterBattle Tendency:Joseph JoestarCaesarMaybe Lisa LisaWHAMCarsStardust Crusaders:Jotaro KujoJoseph JoestarAbdulKakyoinPolnareffIggyAnubisVanilla IceDio BrandoDiamond Is Unbreakable:Josuke HigashikataKoichi (Echoes Act 3)OkuyasuRohan KishibeYukakoAkiraYoshikage Kira (Killer Queen using Stray Cat)Vento Aureo:Giorno Giovana (GE and GER)BucciaratiGuido AbbacchioRisottoDiavolo with Doppio costumeStone Ocean:Jolyne KujoHermesWeather ReportAnasuiEnrico Pucci (C-Moon)Steel Ball Run:Gyro ZeppeliJohnny JoestarHot PantsDiego BrandoWekapipoFunny ValentineJojolion: Josuke
>>41555That's a pretty solid list, but I don't see how Abbacchio would work, considering he 1) had like one fight, if that, and 2) Moody Blues really isn't a combat heavy stand. Then again, most of the stands would be difficult to incorporate into the game, but we'll see! Hopefully, they'll do a good job!
>>41553It's funny. Back when I first read JoJo's, all the people I knew absolutely hated Vento Aureo and Stone Ocean, but I rather liked them. It was DUWANG I didn't like at first, until I finally saw the charm, not a minute too late. Stardust Crusaders is actually one of my least favourite parts, along with Phantom Blood. I think I like my characters to not be built like Hercules.
>>41570Ehhh, I don't like Stardust Crusaders for other reasons. Araki was still working out exactly what stands were and didn't quite have the hang of making them interesting imo. That really picked up in DUWANG (and went a bit crazy in later parts, but hey, it's fun).
>>41568I think Moody Blues would work pretty well. Just hit a button so it starts recording what you do for 3 or 5 seconds but if you get hit while it's activated you take double damage.
http://www.cdjapan.co.jp/detailview.html?KEY=NEOBK-1042850Did YOU know that Nisioisin wrote a JoJo's book?
>>41610>Did YOU know that Nisioisin wrote a JoJo's book? Yes, all I know about it is that it has a lot of bad reviews on Amazon but I still want to read it, if only I knew moon.
>>41614I know, right. For some reason, I think he would be able to write a pretty decent JoJo's book, even if the moon people don't agree. Weird how no one's translating it. Oh well, at least we'll still have the manga (parts 3(?), 4 and 5 redone) with all its DUWANG glory.
So what scenes are you most anticipating seeing animated? I'd really like to see Josuke motorcycle punching.
>>41636Oooh, that's a good one! I always liked "taste of a liar", but that's probably just my penis talking. "How many breads" is also one of my favourites, along with "The next thing you're going to say is, ..." So many to choose from! - Josuke vs Rohan- Polpo's last moments in jail- Zucchero's fate and the following victory dance- Stroheim and Speedwagon butting in- page 147 in Vento Aureo vol 9 (after defeating White Album- fights VS Metallica- Green Day and Oasis- etc. etc. What I wonder is how they're going to deal with scenes involving bullets (or other projectiles), as those move pretty quickly. We still don't know how long it will go, though.
I tried reading this a while back, but the part 3 scans stopped me. Is there anything better available on the internet? I can read moon just fine, so raws are also an option.I find it really weird that Jojo's is plagued by such bad scans and translation, even though it's seemingly so popular on the net (at least among the more serious manga fans).
>>41679You could also buy the books for like £80. If you spread this over a while it's not really a lot for 17-18 books.
I don't think this looks so good on Phantom Blood, but PB had a very different artsyle compared to later arcs, so I guess it's a matter of choosing a design that won't look so different from the rest. Both their hairstyles look kinda weird and I'm not too hot for the coloring style, but I'm pretty okay with this.
>>41751Though my main complaint would be whoever drew this ignored the Danny in the original illustration.
>>41751I'm not too hot about it either, to be honest. However, they make the decisions, not me.
>>41751Does it say who's making it? I can't read moon.
>>41756It doesn't say.
I quite like the PV art, actually. The color palate is really good, and that old school style fits for Phantom Blood's art. I guess we'll need to see it in motion to really know, though.
>>41766I guess you're right. I'm just glad they're starting with Phantom Blood. Also, this should be the OP, no matter what anyone says: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xEzDZMt8ydw&list=FLmb4kItiNecRF957T265z5A&index=30&feature=plpp_video
>>41774But that'd mean 10 minutes of no actual episode, and I can't imagine a 2 minute version of this working.
>>41777It can be like Double-J. I actually think that might be fun, at least as an internet show. Flash JoJo's. You can make it real goofy, without it seeming like you don't give a shit.
>>41785But I want a proper JoJo anime ;_;
>>41785>It can be like Double-JTerrible, unfunny and shitty looking? How about no.
>>41785Actually, I think doing an anime in flash is the definition of not giving a shit.
Direction: Suzuki Ken`ichi (Gundam Evolve #8, 14)Series Composition: Kobayashi Yasuko (Claymore, Casshern Sins)Character Design & Chief Animation Direction: Shimizu Takako (key animator & animation director on a bunch of shows)Sub Character Design & Prop Design: Machida Shin`ichi (The Book of Bantorra)Music: Matsuo Hayato (Hellsing OVA)Animation Work: David Production (Ristorante Paradiso, The Book of Bantorra, Level E, Ben-Tou, Inu x Boku)Episode Direction: Tsuda Naokatsu (Inu x Boku)
>>42318I don't know who any of these scoobies are. I am slightly worried, even if the designs look all right. At least the voices are good, though. I can't remember ever being this afraid of an anime completely failing. Have they confirmed that they're only doing Phantom Blood? And what does the rest of the page say?
>>42318That is worrisome to say the least. I'd rather someone like Madhouse have this than a bunch of new nobodies.
I'm so scared of this failing... I feel like most people don't give a shit about Phantom Blood. I really appreciated it after a second read, and Jonathan is my favorite JoJo. I think it has the best end out of all the arcs which I hope they don't mess up in the adaptation.
>>42333I agree. But isn't JoJo really popular in Japan? You'd think they'd have more faith in it after it's been going so strong for so long.
>>42336People who read manga don't necessarily watch anime.
>>42340Still, it would make sense for them to put some effort into such an established series.
>>42343It's hard to say how much of an appeal an anime like this has. On one hand it's based off a long-running series with a large fan base, but on the other, these fans aren't your regular anime-watchers. Adapting Phantom Blood might just be a way of checking the appeal of a longer JoJo's anime. The first part is also the shortest, combine that with hiring a new, cheap studio, and they won't lose that much money in case it bombs. It makes perfect sense, really.
>>42344Oh, that makes sense. Thanks for clearing that up, even if my fears still stand.
Really not digging the face.
They did a much better job with his childhood self.
Very nice!
Dio looks good in both designs I think.
Dat asshole face.
Mai favorite bishoujo~
Very cute, very nice.I didn't know we had wordfilters!I wonder if they'll look good animated.
Oh wow, thanks for those! Dio looks amazing. Can't wait to see some Speedwagon and Zeppeli though.
Thank you!I don't like Jonathan's face at all, but I think making Dio more superevil is a good thing. Can't wait to see Speedwagon. Also, have they forgotten Danny?
>>42465>Also, have they forgotten Danny?I sure hope not.
>>42465 >Also, have they forgotten Danny? They would be fools not to include Danny. Seeing him burned, in glorious full-color animation, hearing his yelps and howls as he's roasted alive, with the sad violin music playing in the background, and the sound of Jonathan's sobs and tears, has the potential to be even more devastating than it was in the manga. That was one of the few times I can remember ever getting really angry at a fictional character. Emotional involvement with the audience is always a plus; as there's bound to be some people watching the anime who have never read the manga. Danny's death should at least get them invested enough in wanting to see Dio's fall. They'd be crazy to cut it. As for Danny's absence from the promotional art, I think it's due to marketing wanting to focus on the two leads of the story. At least, I hope that's the case.
>>42477Good point. I have mixed feelings about that scene, because on the one hand it is such a good method of getting us to hate Dio, but on the other hand, I don't want to see a dog, especially Danny, burn to death!
Dio looks better by the picture, but Jonathan... This is not as bad as in the adult version headshots, but I'm still not convinced.
>>42503Maybe they're thinking that since everybody loves Dio, they'll have to make him perfect, but since everyone (apparently) loves Jotaro the most, no one's interested in Jonathan. I dunno. Might just be poor designing.
You wanted Danny? There you go. Oh, and OP/ED announcement too. I guess that's important.
>>42577>RoundaboutMy mind is fucking blown.
>>42577>>42579Holy shit, yes. Thank you Araki

>>42577DANNY FUCK YEAH!;_______________;
>>42577I don't even know what is happening anymore, but I won't complain if they want Roundabout in there!
http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/interest/2012-09-17/all-star-creators-mark-jojo-bizarre-adventure-25th-yearSo many JoJo goodies coming up!
>>42610Well nevermind that link, check this one instead.http://blog.livedoor.jp/ioryhamon/archives/5925157.html
Aw yeah.
Aw yeah. Dat confirmation for NTR kiss.
>>42628I can't wait for "NANI WO SURU DA! DIOOOO!"
>>42628I also forgot to post the best picture.
>>42631DEM LEGS! Personally, I don't really like how Dio is so much less buff than Jonathan, but I still want to stay optimistic. At least they're posing. I can't wait for this scene myself.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LncqRnznspk
>>42636It might be that I'm in an impenetrable state of "this is going to be great", but I thought that looked pretty damn good! Especially Erina's defiant glare. Also, the voices are great. Especially Dio's roar at the end.
>>42638Dat "JOJO!" man. Jonathan's face still looks wonky at times, but I can live with this.
>>42639I agree, he is definitely the least lucky, even if Speedwagon did not look his best.I wonder if they'll go all out in the battle in the mansion, what with the graphic nature of it all. It matters little, as long as we get the famous pastry line. I can hardly contain myself!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=2EzGw41Z62cI prefer Houchu Ohtsuka as Joseph, but still I am hype.
Kazuyuki Okitsu as Jonathan Joestar (Same as the TV anime)Tomokazu Sugita as Joseph JoestarAkio Ohtsuka as WhamDaisuke Ono as Jotaro KujoWataru Hatano as Josuke HigashikataDaisuke Namikawa as Giorno GiovannaMiyuki Sawashiro as Jolyne KujoYuuki Kaji as Johnny JoestarShinichiro Miki as Gyro ZeppeliThat is a pretty great cast. Really excited for Joseph, Giorno and Jolyne, my favourite JoJo's!
>>42636The trailer really has me pumped. Not the glorious sakuga animation I was fantasizing about, but then again, I wasn't really expecting to get that. The art is looking good, and though I dislike the changes made to some of the character designs (especially Speedwagon's), it's not that big of a deal. The animation is looking to be about mid-budget. Hopefully the animation will kick it up a notch for the bigger battles. Am especially looking forward to Dio's tranformation / the mansion burning down. The direction is looking good from the tailer, as it looks like they're adhering very closely to the manga. Of course the manga is so full of life it could practically be used as a storyboard itself.I was a bit wary of Jonathan's voice at first, but I really liked his 「エリナに何をしたー!」. Nice and hot blooded. And I thought Dio's voice was just perfect. The quote at the begining that reads "二人の囚人が鉄格子の窓から外を眺めたとさ。一人は泥を見た。一人は星を見た。" is actually a Japanese translation of a line of poetry by English writer Fredrick Langbridge. The original reads:Two men look out through the same bars:One sees the mud, and one the stars. It does seem like the trailer is focusing on the rivalry between Jojo and Dio, which is a good thing I think. But the cynical part of my can't help thinking that this is just an attempt to get fujoshi interested in the show. But it's looking good so far and at this point I'm too stoked to really be objective about it. Just seeing a proper Jojo TV anime, the first in the 25 years since the manga debuted, is enough to get me delusional with joy.
>>42653I know that feel bro.But I can't blame them for playing a little to the fujoshi crowd. I get really fujoshi-ish myself sometimes when reading. Golden Wind was particularly squeal-inducing.
Disgusting Golden Wind fans, get out!
>>42659Speaking of that, someone recently started retranslating and scanning Part 5http://www.mediafire.com/jojoproject#ehj7e14j6alz6
I found out that the JoJo's rerelease in France will be parts 3-4-1-2, because Stardust is the most popular, and they want, for the fans' sake, that JoJo's hits off in what looks like the best way. Part 3 is just, what, 17 volumes? I can wait a year and a half before I read something I want to read, no biggie. Starts January, alongside Steel Ball Run. Yay!>>42660I've half a mind to read part five again, just because I like the JoJo Project group so much. Maybe another time.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nkcEnfr3glIDat nyoho~
>>42692I'm loving Joseph's voice. If Jolyne's not in this, I'm going to main the crap out of him! Also, here's hoping for alternative Kakyoin costume with dem shades. I wonder if there's going to be some crazy palette swaps, since the characters only wear their one outfit all the time.
I don't know when these were released, but I like them.
>>42722Very good, except it feels like the forehead is a bit too low. He looks like an English dog.>>42723Speedwagon on the other hand, looks really cool, and better than I feared from the PV.
>>42722Not Zepelli enough, F-->>42723but I agree with anon above, Speedwagon looks much better than in his clip in the PV.About the choice of ED, it's certainly a good one. I suspected Araki would get some solid western music in there. Though personally I'd always imagined that a Jojo anime would have this as it's ED:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kig7BgyDSLw
Why isn't it Friday yet?
http://slist.amiami.com/top/search/list?s_originaltitle=JoJo%27s+Bizarre+Adventure&pagemax=100DVDs and BDs up for preorder already. The OP single is there too.
So this is going to be 26 episodes. I can only assume we'll be getting Battle Tendency along with Phantom Blood then. At least I can't image how they would stretch Phantom Blood out for two cours. So fuck yeah Joseph! I wonder how they'll divide the parts? Ten episodes for Phantom Blood, sixteen for Battle Tendency? Or will they go for an even split, thirteen for each series? I think it makes sense to give BT a few more eps, given how much longer and complex it is. At least I don't think PB would be rushed if done in 10 eps. But BT might feel compressed if done in 13.
>>42809It is in Japan now!>>42839I assume it'll be split unevenly, like 10/14. Since it's all airing in one go, it'll be much more doable than if they did it in separate seasons. I hope Lisa Lisa will be voiced by Horie Yui or someone with an equally sexy lady voice.
>>42847I did the maths, and in 20 and a half hours it'll have just finished airing. That means I can download and watch it before I go to bed! Yatta!
It was a pretty good first episode but they cut this page probably for censor reasons though.
>>42863I can't find RAWs anywhere. Where did you get it?
>>42865Found it now, downloading at mach speed.
>>42863The scene in the anime was nowhere near as rage inducing as it was in the manga because they left that out.I did feel the episode was very well done otherwise. Good direction and competent animators made the most of the budget. Though they did compress some stuff here I was kind of expecting that they wouldn't spend more than one episode with Jonathan and Dio as kids. They at least established Jonathan and Dio's characters, that there is more to the stone mask than meets the eye, and that we should really fucking hate Dio.All in all I'm happy with it an look forward to the next episode.
And next episode, the man of the hour will arrive!
While I was happy with the episode I still am hoping that they are saving up the budget for later, so the more actiony episodes will be more fluidly animated.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pjyVqGv_BeAI can't wait for Part 4 to get animated.
Judging by how the preview shows Speedwagon it seems that the first volume will be finished in the next episode and most likely end here at the end of the first chapter of volume 2.
I liked the ep very much, and I'm somewhat glad we didn't get to see Danny burning to death
>>42882I am, but I'm not. It would have really cemented in first time viewers' minds how heartlessly cruel Dio can be.
>>42901My thoughts exactly, too. I still think Dio's actions (and monologues) speak enough as it is, but it's kind of a mixed bag. "The Danny problem"...
>>42904I think the cutting out Danny burning had more to do with time than anything. David Production obviously wanted to spend only one episode on Jojo and Dio as kids, and so a lot of stuff was cut. Even the scenes where Jojo gets Danny, and all that stuff. Whereas Danny's death scene in the manga seemed uniquely outrageous, in the anime it was just the latest outrage in the long line of shit Dio was doing to make Jojo miserable. Reading the comments of people who've only seen the anime, most of them really hate Dio, but don't seem that outraged by Danny's death , at least nowhere near to the extent that manga fans were.I think "the Danny problem" was more of a time thing, then. They just wanted to emphasize Dio's evil and Jonathan's victimization over all. It would be nice if the blu-ray version would have an extended first episode, including all the stuff they cut (you'd think for the price of the blu-ray that they could at least afford to include it). It's not going to happen, though ;_;
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XjwogGst1G8what a beautiful duwang
Heartlessly cruel? I don't get it, he looks like a fine gentleman to me.
The CG in the OP was a bit off looking but it did have this.
I was cautiously optimistic after the first episode, but #2 sealed the deal for me. The adaption is everything I could have hoped for and more. Direction and use of music is wonderful, Dio is even more deliciously evil than he was in the manga, Jonaさん is still a supergentleman, it's great. I can hardly wait a week in between episodes, and I already know that Part 2 is going to be even more amazing.
>>42978I really liked it, CG and all. It was a way to cut off expenses I suppose.I'm having a lot of fun with the show. Watching it with someone who also likes JoJo makes the experience even better!
>>43015>>Watching it with someone who also likes JoJo makes the experience even better!You lucky son of a bitch ;_;
>>43022If it makes you feel better, it's through a computer. I do have friends in my town who are, or were, huge JoJo fans, but apparently haven't checked the anime for whatever reason. I was hoping they'd watch with me but I guess real life got too real for group anime watching.
>>43023Shit happens. I'm watching with a non-JoJo's fan who really enjoys it. Seems all the scrolling stills, animated sound effects and funky Araki-colourfilterstuff really appeals to outsiders. Who'da thought!
Oh boy, all that censoring in episode 3. Gotta buy them BDs.It was GREAT and Koyasu was GREAT and I even teared up a bit. Zeppelli next week!
Dang, Jojo's is fun!
;_;
http://nicotubeanime.blog.fc2.com/blog-entry-5544.htmlCan anyone enlighten me on this?
Did anyone else think that this episode was very uninteresting? It might be just because I couldn't follow the dialogue at all, and because this is one of the slower parts, but I was thoroughly unimpressed after three great and exciting episodes.
>>43284I agree. I also think whole ripple thing wasn't very well explained.
>>43284It was still fun, but definitely the worst of the 4 episodes so far.I'm sure if you read the manga it was reat, but it's getting really obvious that they're skipping over things in the adaptation.
>>43288It really wasn't that great for manga fans either. It actually felt like everything went faster in the manga, even though this episode felt like it only had half an episode of plot in it. I was trying to simultaniously translate (simulslate?) for my friend with whom I was watching, but I just gave up and said "breathing let's you use ripple to punch with sunlight power. Beat Jack without spilling wine." for almost the entire episode.
I liked the episode well enough. Still hating that fucking ugly face they gave adult Jonathan though. Literally everyone else looks fine, I don't understand.
>>43304I don't really like Zeppeli. He looks and sounds.... off. And he does not have an italian accent. Disappointed.
>>43307The first few minutes I thought his voice was weird, but I quickly got used to it. I thought his face looked off in the design picture but it looks pretty ok in the show. And I was expecting an Italian accent for Zeppeli as much as I expected a british accent for Jonathan. So, not at all.
I'll never be ready.
[guitar sounds]
The ending of this episode gave me goddamn shivers, so hyped for next week. The fight storyboarding has been kind of weak the past 2 episodes, but the direction is still kickass as ever. This show is turning out better than I ever could have hoped.
dem breads.
http://superrobotwarz.wordpress.com/2012/11/14/2012-jojos-bizarre-adventure-the-animation-the-adventure-will-continue-with-joseph-joestar/Joseph!
http://www.mediafire.com/?ss93tcszmnd9rm8Full song of the OP.
Despite my initial reaction to the voice, Zeppeli's VA did a great job. His voice during his last words really moved me. And Jonathan's face while he held his dying master... Yeah I cried, wanna fight about it?I didn't think they'd keep the poem, that made me sad in a good way.
>>43641"To love and win is the best thingTo love and lose, the next best"i shed a teargood night sweet princeI thought Zeppeli's VA was good too, nothing to complain
>>43646Poco's face really ruined that for me. JoJo and Speedwagon have very good sad faces yet Poco just looks like he's thinking "Why am I here? I didn't even know the guy."
Does anyone know why the next duwang episode is so far behind?
>>43640JoJo JojoJoJo JojoJoJo JojoJOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOJO!>>43695It's pretty forced, so maybe they've just given up/gone tired?
>>43698Makes you wonder why gg haven't given up too
http://www.ggkthx.org/2012/11/jojo-ep-8/#comment-7659http://archive.foolz.us/a/thread/75368704/#75375037This isn't what I expected my JoJo anime experience to be at all.But anyway, great episode, though the transition to ED wasn't perfect like it was in the previous episodes, particularly THAT Zeppeli episode. All that celebrating just makes the expectation of next week's episode more depressing.
>>43783Ahahahahaha! I'm picking up gg just for this.
>>43783>>43784gg pls go
>>43789But I posted it because of the sheer stupidity of their claims, not because I think they're right. How can I be gg?
truer words never spoken.part 2 is looking to be much more exciting than part 1....and part 1 was damn exciting.
Ahhh, so much to say. I can't remember the last time I watched an episode of anime and had a big grin on my face the entire time. Everything about this episode was perfect. Sugita is such an ideal choice for Joseph, he just nails every line. The BGM was unique and a nice change of pace from PB, now that we're getting into a more comedic arc. The direction remains top notch, I'm super impressed at how cool this show looks with a tiny budget (pic related). Joseph's antics are better than I could have imagined animated, and seeing him really lose it at the end of the episode was beautiful. I'm highly looking forward to NAZI SCIENCE which seems to have gotten another great VA. This should be fun.
>>43971Part one was pretty damn boring to me.
I really like the new OP, the parts with the Pillar Men and Joseph getting caught by his own balls are great. The only parts I didn't like as much were the way it pretty explicitly spoils Cars becoming the ultimate being and Caesar dying.
>>44041You only notice those things because you already know they happen. The more I listen to it and watch it the more I like it.
>>44046I thought about that and while I will concede with the Cars part, I feel the Caesar one is too obvious with the way it shows him shouting out with the red bubble then showing to Joseph putting on the headband which the OP clearly shows is Caesar's and looking sad.
>>44049The OP doesn't make much emphasis in the headband, and to say it's obvious it's Caesar's is a little bold considering the art direction both show and OP have that makes the particular zig zag pattern blend with the rest of the elements present in the animation. It takes a couple of watches to make the connection I think. I didn't notice the blood bubble until after I watched the OP several times, and really, if you didn't know ANYTHING about Battle Tendency, would you look at that red sphere floating among many other colorful things and link it to blood or death? The last scene is the strongest implication to Caesar's death, but it can just be excused as the obligatory lone MC shot showing him struggle, headband aside. People not familiar with the source material would probably take some episodes after meeting Caesar to make a connection, assuming they only watch the OP when they watch the episode, and not over and over like we are.
This is supposedly in the OP, did anyone else catch it? I couldn't see it.
>>44052It's at 1:56 right after Lisa Lisa.
Japanese scans of the new Jojolion.http://exstorage.net/download/b300a50a4dbd66ce831a95eda6c9b8378d353aa3060c0eec037d5d47b4f9556dSPOILERS ABOUND HOLY SHIT.
>>44066I'm spooked.
Finally Fujiwara is given a role in JoJo, too bad it's ACDC. I like seeing him in good guy roles better.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=HbdgjePSY0oIt's beautiful. Ohtsuka as Hol Horse, I'm ok with this.
>>44100I liked Romi Park as Giorno a bit more than the new guy.
>>44105I'll admit Daisuke Namikawa's a very capable voice actor even though I hate him, but I agree with you here. Romi did a better Giorno.
>>44095Greasy Mexican fujoshi go home.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bVJQf0wv4BgIt's beautiful.
This was so fabulous.- Cesare's sports bra- Flexing to stop bleeding- all dat posing- pasta fight- kissing bitches on the mouthCesare's so great!
Lisa sure was whored out this week. Not that I mind at all.
>>44541This is the JoJo thread, not the manga thread.
>episode title: Stroheim's counterattack>Stroheim isn't reintroduced until 5 secs before the ep ends, before anything actually happens that could be considered a counterattackThis shit annoyed me to no end with the DBZ remake, episode titles that spoil the cliffhanger ending of that episode. It must be painful to those who haven't read the manga recently enough to have alreay known what is goign to happen.
>>44550I like to think of it as a throwback to 80s anime episode titling.
>>44554Then wouldn't it be 'Stroheim's Counterattack!! What will our heroes do at this unexpected twist?!'
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=40BH5a5ltfYI cannot contain my excitement right now.
>>44620Please tell me XSEED or ANYONE are going to ship this internationally. I'm hitting my monitor with my wallet and it does nothing!
It is everything I hoped for and more
>>44679;_;7
>>44679I was shivering troughout the entire end. And when the opera music came on, I thought I was going to cry.
Cars, you motherfucker. Was that melody from anything in particular?
I'm really happy it ended this way, I was starting to get worried that they wouldn't show Jotaro.
It turned out better than I could have hoped. Let's pray for all 8 parts!
Does anyone have a gif of Suzy Q swingin' dem hips? She stole this episode for me.
>>45267OH SUZIE Q
>>45270MY FRIEND
>>45270I finally watched this episode and goddamn Suzie Q.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xe9pvmZM1mAWhat do I do with all this excitement?
I watched the live premiere of this, and god damn, those fujoshi fan girls went absolutely mad over Vento Aureo (but they didn't care for Stone Ocean at all).I'm so hyped for this game, I don't even know what to do.
>>46017It was really funny when they went silent during ACDC's bit, and then went complete bananas when Caesar's bit was shown afterwards. It was like watching some fucking Gaijin 4koma in real time. The game looks pretty casual, with emphasis on style and fun more than anything. I'm horrible with fighting games, so I'm really glad for that.
>>46019I was surprised they liked Cars as much. He's such a bad villain.
So I began reading JoJo recently. can I go rage/complain/whine/I don't know at part 6's ending here? i... have no idea how I'm supposed to react to bullshit of that magnitude
>>46122Second best JoJo arc end, deal with it.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E2VCwBzGdPM
>>46122Just roll with it. That's what I do.
>>46122if nothing else you can see it as a means for allowing part 7's universe to exist, which really is a great part
KONO DIO DA
>>46216Hell yeah. And Pucci's getting all his stands, I wonder how that will work.
>>46216Does this mean part 1 AND part 3 Dio!?Take all my money!
>>46216This is cool and all, but do we really need two DIO? That's conceivably a wasted spot for another character.>>46218Probably White Snake for default, and then C-Moon for powerup mode, while Made in Heaven will be special/finisher move only. Though it will be pretty cool if he can use Made in Heaven to speed up the match timer, so you can turtle like hell.Or if the devs go full scumbag, they'll just put him as three different characters, say that they now have 5 characters for Stone Ocean and call it a day.
>>46225Dio's powers from part one are very different (or actually just forgotten) from his incarnation in part three. Considering how little Phantom Blood has to offer in terms of popular characters that could work in a fighting game I really don't mind this adition at all. In fact I'm glad I'll be able to reenact Jonathan VS Dio properly. And it's still missing one more Dio!>Or if the devs go full scumbag, they'll just put him as three different characters, say that they now have 5 characters for Stone Ocean and call it a day. Jesus no, that'd be horrible.
Has /bun/ gotten their copies of ASB yet? I just got mine and so far, it's been a pretty neat experience. I'd even say it's a gold experience.
>>46881but I thought the game was goodgiorno sucks
Where are my Stone Oceans and SBRs, CC2?
>>46886Aren't Valentine, Gyro, Johnny, Jolyne, Hermes and Pucci in the game?
>>46888Considering the amount of characters part six and part seven have, I don't think it's enough. Anasui is supposedly going to be DLC, but that still makes Pucci the only Stone Ocean villain available. I feel like this is wishful thinking but I hope FF makes it in too. It's just strange to have Jolyne and Hermes and not have her.SBR stands can be a little tricky but you'd think they'd at least include Diego, being Dio and all. Phantom Blood is short so the limited amount of characters isn't really that surprising, and JoJolion is still really young so it can't be helped, but SBR and SO are both finished and have a lot of characters to choose from.If they're willing to add characters like Akira or Shigekiyo it seems strange that so far they've overlooked those two parts like that.
>>46889Well with Stone Ocean there really aren't that many memorable villains that could work in a fighting game. That one meteor guy might work but other than that they all had really strange abilities. I do find no Diego really weird though, it's not like he would be a Part 3 Dio clone since they could just use his dinosaur stand.
I'm disappointed they made DLC Kira so weak (or at least much harder to use) compared to Kosaku Kira.>>46889>but I hope FF makes it in tooI don't think this is gonna happen, since she's already relegated to support character duty in Campaign Mode. Weather's in a similar state, being a stage hazard and all, which is a shame. Now Diego, he's absolutely nowhere to be seen (except for being referenced in SBR's story), so chances are good that he'll be a DLC soon. I thought Vanilla Ice would be a stage hazard in the, well, Vanilla Ice stage, but since he's not and he's not in the game so far, he's probably another DLC as well, as with Anasui.

>>47041YESYESYESYESYEEEEES!Time to save some money! But won't this carry enormous copyright questions? Also, this has been a wondrous year for JoJo's in France, US and Japan.
>>47042I fear the Prince, but I'm sure they can find a way. I don't mind name changes, they did that with Heritage and it works just fine.
>>47048Is your body ready for Murderer Matriarch, Sultan Scarlet, and Created in Paradise?
>>47058I never read the Viz translations, so I feel like I'm missing out here.
>>47058I don't get the first two...>>47059Some names were changed. IIRC Vanilla Ice became Iced, and someone's name was changed to another reference I think? I can't remember. I should go to bed.
>>47077Killer Queen and King Crimson
>>47079No. No. They can't change those!
>>47095Well, how bitchy are the right holders of Queen's and King Crimson's material?
>>47107But why is this not a problem in Japan? Do they just not care?
>>47107>QueenUniversal Music Group...yeah, no cigar.
>>47108Might it be because, for example, the copyright is for Killer Queen and not キラー・クイーン? I don't know if copyright laws work like that. They obviously can't keep GE, unfortunately, so it will be weird having Giorno calling it something else. But there's no copyright for GER, is there? Weird. And I wonder if it will be dubbed. And what of the enormous Namco DLC conspiracy
>>47117>conspiracywat
>>47118You're seriously thinking they're not going overboard with the DLCs and online model? 600 yen per character, with 9 characters so far, and you know they're still gonna make more. Okay it's 300 yen/free for now, but you're pretty much screwed if you got the game after the sales period ended. The Campaign mode is a dumb way of extending playability. I would've been somewhat content if Bosses don't drop medals you already have, but nope, let's have them drop the same medals over and over and over! Oh, also there's no guarantee you'll have a Boss fight! And did we mention you only have 10 tries? But don't worry, you can buy more tries and buy increased encounter rate! Fucking wonderful. What is this, a pay to win mobile game? Isn't the base game expensive enough?I mean, the gameplay is fun and all if you love Jojo and/or have someone to play with, but this crap's going to Idolm@ster-level bullshit real fast.
>>47174I'm not thinking anything, I was just confused by the word conspiracy being used to refer to ASB. I didn't know there was a conspiracy. Chill.
>>47177How can I be chill when Namco's raping me in all my orifices???I'm guessing you haven't heard how the game sold a measly 20k in its second week (vs the 400k+ during its first week)? And how even in the first week, there are places putting up used copies and selling new copies 50% off? People were pissed. It's a shame, because the gameplay itself is rather good and solid, and the visuals are amazing. Unfortunately it's all trashed by questionable executive decisions.
>>47181I only knew about the first week sales and the returns. It's a shame that the game isn't doing so well, seems pretty fun. Didn't know about having to pay for the battery or whatever it is either. I wonder how it'll do with its American release. You have the right not to be chill I guess.
http://www.amazon.co.jp/dp/B00BHAF688/Oh wow. Already down to a third of the MSRP and averaging a 2/5 rating. What were they thinking?
>>47371I don't think DLC should mean a one star review. That completely disregards every other characteristic of the game.
>>47372the way the game was put together, they have every right to call out the game for being a DLC ridden piece of shit.release-day DLC is a plague, and when it's 100% stuff that should've been included with the game and is a core part of the game's gameplay (and considering they already paid a good chunk of money for the damn game), those customers have every right to be pissed the fuck off.

>>47387After having begun rereading part 3, I'm sort of looking forward to this. I just hope they give Polnareff a good VA.
Awesome, we're getting closer to the parts I care about! If this means they will continue animating subsequent parts, I'll gladly take this shitfest any day.
>>47395>the parts I care about6 and 7?
>>47393Aren't they using the ASB VAs? I think Hirata is a very capable man. Haven't heard him in the game but I'm sure he'll be at least decent.
>>47396>6Heavens no, I don't like Jolyne the slightest bit. It's 4 and 7.>>47397>Aren't they using the ASB VAs?There's really no good reason for them not to. Which is a shame; I think Ono did a mediocre job as Jotaro.
>>47398it's always nice to see other people that love part 4
>>47399Is it really that strange? Everyone in the jojo tumblr community loves part 4 the most, I've been told.
>>47401Seems like that to me, too.I personally like 2 and 4 most, I think. I really, really like 5 and 6, too, though. Part 1 is great, also.
>>47401I got the opinion tumblrites loved SBR the mostor at the very least they loved shipping Johnny and Gyro the most
Not exactly breaking news, but in case some bunbuns don't know yet, Purple Haze Feedback's been translated.
>>47565I was not aware, so thanks
>>47565I didn't, either; thank you!
Speaking of Purple Haze Feedback, have any of you read any of the other JoJo's novels? I saw the one about George (or is it actually Jorge?) Joestar at my then-local Japanese bookstore, and I started to wonder how they fare, considering Araki didn't write them.
>>47588I've heard Jorge Joestar, written by Outarou Majiou, is very nonsensical and not really a story about Jorge and Elizabeth. Things get really... bizarre (thanks to Made in Heaven I think?), Morioh grows legs and runs off, there are multiple Cars and Queen ditches Kira to become Car's stand in the end, or something. It has a connection to Over Heaven, where it apparently confirms that Over Heaven is written by a fake Dio, which is really the only reasoning (or excuse, rather) there can be for the very out of character crap Nisio Isin tries to pass off as Dio's own words and thoughts. I don't know the specifics for this novel, having read the only available translated chapter, but it seems to be about Dio explaining how to reach heaven. I don't know much about these two but considering reviews I've stumbled upon and summaries posted on 4chan, I don't think they're very good, or rather, don't fit JoJo well. They are, along with Purple Haze Feedback (from Kouhei Kadono of Boogiepop Phantom fame), the most recent JoJo novels.I'm much more interested in a translation for The Book, by Otsuichi. It's a murder mystery set in Morioh after the events of part 4, and tells different stories that I can only assume are connected to a murder scenario Rohan and Koichi encounter after trying to find the owner of a blood-stained cat they find outside a conbini.Someone in nico adapted this novel into a series of animated comic videos of sorts, which I think is pretty cool. If you can read moon or just want to take a look at it, here's the link:http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm14351094
Rereading part 5 I'm noticing that Buccellati is a total badass, even though I didn't like him the last two times I read it. I also really like Trish. She's cool.
>>48281bruno is the real jojo of part 5
>>48289I kind of agree with you, now that you say it. He's got the strongest will, he's the best at getting out of sticky (hohoho) situations (or at least keeping me on the edge of my seat), and he's just a great guy. Much more interesting than Giorno, too.
>>48292Even that loaf of bread at the beginning of the arc was much more interesting than Giorno, so that's not saying much.Though Buccellati is indeed a good character, even if he's too serious for my liking. For me, the best character from part V has got to be Mista and his Sex Pistols. Man, I hope they keep most refined Imai-san as Sex Pistols' voice actress if they ever get to adapting that part.
There were some interesting shots here and there that were rather unusual for anime. The stands had a really cool presentation. Can't wait to hate the second episode because of Kakyoin's voice change though.
>>48508am I the only one who is superbly pissed off at this VA change?seriously? NOBODY EVEN NOTICES THAT JOSIF GETS FUCKED OVER WHEN THE NEW VA CAST CAME OUT!?It's not that the new voice is bad or doesn't fit, but it's just too much of a change; Josif wasn't that raspy, and his sense of humor wont really shine through as it could have due to the change.
>>48509He didn't get fucked over, you're exaggerating. Sugita can't into old man voice while sounding natural at all, it's bad enough that his lines in ASB sound rather forced.People get old and their voice changes, so this particular voice actor change doesn't bother me.
>>48509I forgot to ask, why do you call him Josif?
>>48519Because Iosef is already taken by the tank.
>>48509I noticed, checked who he was, saw it was the guy that voiced Jet in Bebop and figured it would all be alrighta month or two later I stand by that
>>48520I don't understand.
http://cgworld.jp/feature/making/jojo-anime.htmlArticle dealing with the making of the first two openings. Even if you can't read japanese, there's interesting images anyway so it's worth a click. Also, the new OP is awesome.
>>48583visually awesome, yesthe song is almost distractingly generic though
>>48642>the song is almost distractingly generic though But that's OK since part 3 is pretty generic as well.
>>48642I don't find it extremely generic, it grows a little on me every time I listen to it.>>48712Travelling to Egypt with your multiracial friends (and dog) with the purpose of killing the vampire at fault for the death of your great-great-grandfather (and his father too) and the sickness slowly taking the life of your mother using your ghost-looking human-shaped power that can see very well, extend its fingers to attack, punch really fast, draw like a pro, and, if you're pissed off enough, stop time, is pretty generic, yeah!
>>48712Another person who's not crazy about Part 3? I am agog, I am aghast! However, I will say that it has several great fights, and it also has Iggy, Dio and my personal favourite Polnareff, so it still holds up pretty well to most other shounen manga. And I think the new opening looks very very cool indeed. I love the hard work that's being put into this, unlike some adaptations.
Also, what's with all the "Joseph's seventy years old, so racism" jokes? I don't mind, but they feel kinda strange.
>>48723They skipped the introduction segment for that punchline. The part where he bumps into a jap at the airport that sets up that reoccuring gag really is needed, especially the part where josif rationally explains his reasons for his racial hatred. It's not "he's old man so racist" it's "My daughter fell for one and moved to the other side of the world to be with him. THEY WILL PAY FOR THAT. THEY AREN'T GOOD ENOUGH FOR MY DAUGHER AND I'M STILL UPSET THAT SHE MOVED OUT NEARLY 30 YEARS AGO".
>>48726They had that at the end of Part 2 which works since that was at the end of Part 2 in the manga.
>>48727That's what I thought as well. However, did he mention that he was bitter towards them then, or did he just say "get out of my way you stupid jap"?
>>48731It was exactly like how it was in the manga.
>>48732Holly definitely wasn't this cute in the mangaso if anything it makes more sense now as to why he's so pissed off about losing her
>>48743Really? I always found Holly to be really charming in the manga, but that was perhaps only because she was the only new character thus far who showed any likeability.
>>48743I think the voice actress helps heightening her charm points a lot.>>48749Compared to what other new characters?
>>48750I never liked Jotaro or Kakyoin (or Avdol, for that matter) very much when I first read part 3 five years ago (Jesus Christ, that feels like a short time), but that was probably because I'd grown so attached to Joseph, and did not want to imagine that the new protagonist could be any different from him (or even Stroheim for that matter), even if Battle Tendency was quite different from Phantom Blood to begin with. I like them quite a bit more on my second rereading, though.
>>48751Oh, I see. I never liked young Joseph so I didn't have that problem. Although Jotaro also never really grew on me, I loved every other protagonist in Stardust Crusaders, including Joseph.
All-Star Battle is really fun, and somehow kinda doubles as Japanese practice, since there're no English subs. Sweet~
>>48765The English version is coming out soon.
>>48773I know, but I already got it pretty cheap (1500 yen) when I went to Japan, and I rather cherish guessing which line is which, which is always good training.
>>48765Ah, good ol' ASB. I'd play it a lot more if every single update didn't break the game. My friend and I stopped playing the game seriously since all the combo we came up with and practiced so much would become unusable in the next patch. It's still such a delicious visual treat, however, that I can't help picking it up again every now and then.Speaking of games, there's a protoype Jojo Tabletop RPG system floating around out there that I'd love to play with /bun/. Does any bunbun fancy some RPG?
>>48789>Speaking of games, there's a protoype Jojo Tabletop RPG system floating around out there that I'd love to play with /bun/. Does any bunbun fancy some RPG? The people over at the IRC have apparently played tabletops with each other before. I've never played with them, though.

>>48790I-I'm too socially retarded to join in on a group that has already known each other before, sorry... Besides, how receptive are they of Jojo?>>48797Alright, I'd love to run a fabulous game with bunbuns!...what do we do now?By the way, here's the system:https://docs.google.com/document/d/1V5mZwgz_Y0L-eoFsZwiPab53vpXQHNSfMY-wjDImPYA/editI've actually just read through it properly, and it seems like Dark Heresy and Exalted did some inappropriate things to FATE, and that system is the resulting bastard child. It looks very simple and more of a rules-light storygame, so it's not for everyone.>>48814Isn't that the one that was written by SBR-verse's fake Dio?
>>48816I'm a bit slow on the uptake when it comes to rules, but I would still want to give it a shot if we could do it slowly. How would we do it, though? Chat room? Skype?
>>48816We all fucking love Jojo, for we are not faggots. We use maptools to play games with, it's free and does everything you need. Sometimes we use mumble or vent or a/e for ooc chat, sometimes we don't even bother with that. Maptools has a /ooc command, so it's perfectly fine to play without a mic if you don't want to.
>>48832Sweet! Should we make a different thread on /photos/ in which we can discuss this game?
Now that I think about it, most of the more memorable parts from Stardust Crusaders that I want to see animated are the comedy bits. And people say Diamond is the gag manga part!>>48832I see. How receptive are you to rules-light RPG, though? From what my stalking tells me, you guys mostly play rules-medium/heavy games. Also will you play with us?>>48817I-I don't know. To be honest, I've never actually played RPGs online before...>>48835Good idea. That would be for the best, even if only to organize things. TRPG thread, perhaps?
>>48836Half the channel has an aversion to dice rolling at all, rules lite is fine.
>>48836I agree with the chap above me; rule light is fine. Less for me to not remember.
Why did they make Runaway Girl black? I'm also disappointed she's voiced by Rie Kugiyama since I think she would have made a good Trish.
>>48842>she would have made a good Trish /\___/\/ / ヽ ::: \| (●), 、(●)、 || ,,ノ(、_, )ヽ、,, || ,;‐=‐ヽ .:::::|\ `ニニ´ .:::/ NO THANK YOU/`ー‐--‐‐―´´\ .n:n nn nf||| | | |^!n f|.| | ∩ ∩|..| |.| |: :: ! } {! ::: :| ヽ ,イ ヽ :イ I imagine the Runaway Girl is tanned because people tend to get tanned from all that daytime running away.
>>48843Agreed.Who would be good, though? I only remember what HanaKana sound like, I haven't watched anime in so long.
I just watched episode 5, and I don't think Dio had Petshop on his shoulder in the manga.Nope, just checked, and it's just some stupid bird. Might just have been a design change, though. The anime is really good.
>>48845It's one of the little continuity fixes like giving Jonathan the star birthmark. Why they kept Dio using Hermit Purple even though it is NEVER brought up again I don't know.
>>48850It's to foreshadow Joseph's getting senile dementia; he's too stupid to realise that he doesn't need to destroy the cameras.
This episode was super strange. They censored Jotaro smoking, they made some minor translation mistakes, and they wrote "Captain Dragon" for some reason.
>>48881Jotaro is a minor so I guess they can't show that on TV. I don't know about translation mistakes, but I was curious about the name change so I checked the jojo wikia.>In the US licensed adaptation of the anime on CrunchyRoll the imposter Captain Tennille is renamed Captain Dragon. This name change actually still ties into The Captain & Tennille reference as the captain's real name is Daryl Dragon.
>>48882I thought about that, but it's still pretty silly. Didn't they show Jotaro (and Joseph in part 2) indulging in underage drinking, without any censoring?
>>48884I don't remember Joseph drinking, but Jotaro's beer can says soda in the anime, so I guess it makes it okay?
>>48886>Extra Wages TemperI don't think you should trust those words.
I can't remember; was there this much censorship in parts 1 and 2? Because this is getting a little out of hand. I know they have to keep it to a modest level, but it's on after midnight, isn't it?
>>48936Yes, there was. I think Battle Tendency was a bit less gory maybe, or at least had fewer fights.
>>48937I remember they censored the scene with Mark, but that's as far as I can remember. When Lisa Lisa got hit by Cars they didn't censor that, did they?
>>48944That wasn't straight up gore though, although I don't really remember if they censored it or not.
So I had a thought, in Part 3, the goal was to save Holy by defeating DIO and retroactively removing her Stand, right? So how come Star Platinum, Hermit Purple, and Crazy Diamond (and maybe DIO's sons, but I can't remember if theirs was from Pucci's discs) exist in Part 4 onwards? I'm almost certain they weren't pierced by the arrow. And I can't remember if we ever see Holy ever again or if we even got any confirmation that she got better, so did she died?
