I find horribly mangled Japanese to be hilarious, so I'm cool. He explicitly stated it was only a warm-up, anyway.

Apparently dedicated server hosting under Linux is now possible, so let's play Terraria together!

Server: bunterraria.dyndns.org
Port: 7777

The server is set to 'hardcore only', so make sure you choose hardcore mode at character creation, and try not to die!

(If you don't have the game yet, just download it, it's only 16 MB or so. Or you could just buy it on Steam, it's 10 euros (currently 5 euros due to holiday sale).)

The gold chests right above the starting bed.
I generally try to keep some useful stuff in them, as it makes running back to grab the stuff you died with a *lot* easier, and it makes starting out much less tedious as well.
Take what you need.

Thanks for the Skeletron arena, Smurf. Due to the great mobility I had the fight against Skeletron was extremely easy (I had a Space Gun with full meteor set). Dungeon is now unlocked.

That was my very first time on hardcore. It was not fun getting surprise raped by blobs and actually dying from it.

Since this is in mediumcore now I think I'll try again.

The arena for the Wall of Flesh is complete as well.

If you'd like to give that boss a try, just remember that disconnecting won't save you from dying to the boss, as I learned when I allowed him to summon by mistake. Either the boss dies, or you and everybody else in the underworld die.

Though, with how dangerous the world gets after he's defeated, it'd be very, very difficult for new characters to get anywhere on their own.

Server updated, in case anybody still cares. If you're running a pirated version, please update to 1.1.2. If you're running a legit version, Steam updates your game automatically (hence the need for a server-side update because otherwise you'd be unable to play).

Waiting on the inevitable 3DS revision that includes a second circle pad.

Also, none of the current games on it are "must plays" for me.
>> No.23977
I own one. I've been having a blast with the GBA games they released to pay back users for the price drop. I was pretty excited to see Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones on the game list. I've never played a Fire Emblem game before, but I think I'll play more after I finish this one.

As for 3DS games, I recently picked up BlazBlue. I was really disappointed to find that I couldn't use the circle pad. Fighting games with the D-pad, they hurt. ;_;

I'm kind of shy, and lack any artistic talent whatsoever, but if you're alright with receiving odd squigles and unintelligible writings, my friend code is 0602-6257-4705

Hopefully the 3DS will offer more in the way of online games this year. At least most of the upcoming single player games look promising.

What's the last movie you watched?

I just saw The Life Before Her Eyes. Overall it was boring, but the ending just blew me away. It was so twisted and unexpected. Basically, at the beginning of the movie, two girls are involved in a shooting incident at school. Then we are fast forwarded into the future, and one of surviving girls is leading a normal life, has a husband, a daughter, but she is constantly reminded of the shooting. Later it turns out that her husband isn't really her husband, and her daughter doesn't exist, and at the end we find out that the whole movie was just something the young girl was imagining right before she got killed during the shooting incident.

I agree it was a spectacular movie. By the end of the speech, I almost wanted to pick up arms and sing God Save the Queen.

Maltine Records
http://maltinerecords.cs8.biz/

The first netlabel I was introduced to. I believe I may have been by seeking out a track used by nyjunkies on 8tracks. I was fairly new to the style of music in general, so it was a very pleasant surprise for me to find out that people were releasing it gratis. I highly recommend exploring Maltine's releases, I haven't found many that I didn't enjoy a lot. A few somewhat randomly selected recommendations:

[MARU-056] 芳川よしの - Beyond The Chasm
I think may have been the first release I picked up. It's at least the first that stands out, I really enjoyed the way he fit the sampled verse in "Cagayake!Girls (yoshino's 8va-step remix)" over a rhythm much different from the original.

[MARU-014] imoutoid - ADEPRESSIVE CANNOT GOTO THECEREMONY
It was really sad for me to try to find more by this guy, only to learn he apparently died at age 18. Pretty amazing to me that he was producing on the level that he was before that.

Oh man, Bunkai-Kei has some incredibly good albums. Myrtle, Mirage and a few wonderful tracks off Elect-LO-nica springs to mind. I found a blog many moons ago, made by what I believe to be a Frenchman, who updates his blog with albums from various netlabels. It's a good source to find new sites to follow.

http://yamanotedreams.blogspot.com/

But you have to be careful. Some of the music is horrible freeware shite, barely fit as BGM for lame games on newgrounds.

Bunkai-Kei Records
http://bunkai-kei.com/

A quieter label, has a lot of beautiful music along with some field recordings and other goodies. This is Go-qualia's (main) stomping ground, anything attached to his name is recommended. A few specific recommendations:

[BK-K 010] VA - Elect-LO-nica Compilation
A release in cooperation with Comic LO. Required listening material.

[BK-K 013] Go-qualia - Dissolve Miku Slowly In Waveform
Remixes of kz's "Last Night, Good Night". Producing glitch featuring Miku is on my to-do before death checklist, so this is right up my alley.

Grind, hardcore (including the electronic variety) and all kinds of other noisy stuff.

Personally I can recommend Cloud Rat, No Anchor, Wadge, Maruosa, Surachai, Bologna Violenta, Ablach, Gripe, Spacebong, Leeres Hirn, Sulaco, Jucifer and No Gang Colors or you can just grab one of those comps.
