I think most of the population are lurkers. If I recall, I remember trying to keep track of the amount of posts in a day or something like that. A new thread was made and it got alot of replies.

Or maybe it's just me.

I'd like to think that most of the people who are visiting here are actually busy enjoying their hobbies instead of ranting on a board all day about said hobbies.

But to get the most out of your hobbies, you need to discuss them with people.

Yeah, that's the big problem with /bun/. There's enough people to post, but nobody's posting.

You call it a problem, but it's not really that bad.
If you start an interesting topic or ask a question it will generally get a few decent, helpful replies within a matter of hours.
I see nothing wrong with that.

Please don't post things like this, unless it's in a context that makes it blatantly sarcastic.

Usually, when people write something, there is a reason behind it. Some sort of event occurred that pushed them over the line to express their personal belief on an issue. Most lurkers on /bun/ have not experienced that event necessary to drive them to create discourse and dialog.

I can look at /jp/ and see the overwhelming amount of shitposting going on, but most of that isn't from people who regularly visit, but rather from trolls (i.e people who get their kicks from trying to instill misery or misfortune against others). Trolls themselves are driven to shitpost because they crave the hostility and attention they get.

Beyond that, /jp/ is a slow board because people generally enjoy their hobbies. Some people talk about their playtime in mmorpgs like cosmic break and wartanks, others do netplay/mahjong threads, and some discuss eroge/ahoge/VNs/whateverthefuckelsekindofsubgenrethereis. Oh and there's also /jp/ radio and now C79 stuff. All those people are driven to talk about those things because they encountered something that they deemed worthy to write about and wish to share their opinions with the rest of the group.

/bun/ on the other hand is not so driven, and there is nothing wrong with that. People enjoy their hobbies differently. Some like to socialize more, some don't.

Its great keeping open multiple tabs with /jp/, bun and tohno. You can have all the discussion you need.
