During a fight with an archmage, Kyubey notices his pack becoming lighter after the archmage mumbles a spell. Upon checking his backpack after the battle...

...he finds that his stylus is missing.

(FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK
When an archmage eliminates an item, it eliminates EVERY SINGLE INSTANCE of an item from the game. There is no longer a single stylus available in the game, making the powerful writing skill completely useless. FUCK.)

And this, good sirs, is an example of why you must be careful with random generation.

(For those who don't understand the picture: All exits are blocked by higher-level monsters and there were no items, so the game is unwinnable from the very start, no matter how well you play.)

I'm not sure but when I was playing this game (Ragnarok) years ago, I could write a scroll of enchantment.

Probably it's because of some enemy magic or something???
Can anyone confirm this?
>> No.19804

You learn to write scroll of enchantment at a very high sage level, beyond even the 'ultimate scroll' scroll of switch bodies.

So after playing this game since middle school, having put at least 300, maybe 400+ hours in the game, I finally managed to get a 99% perfect run.

I've been to all locations, retrieved all of the artifacts, completed 5 out of 6 quests (accidentally killed Hela before she gave me Baldr's soul), made it halfway through Asgard (the final area) while having a second life, being invulnerable, moving at 50 speed, being resistant to everything except death rays, have a mirror shield to even be invulnerable to death rays, have killed the only Basilisk in Asgard on turn 1 to prevent it from ruining my Mirror Shield, I have a +100 katana to cut through anything, all wands filled with tons of charges, 23000 HP, all necessary rings, tons of skills, four potions worth of Terraforming; basically, I was immortal and had everything needed to complete the game, and was only half a screen away from victory. It took me three full nights of playing (plus the countless hours of playing to get good enough to pull this off), but I did it.

Upon entering Odin's Tower (to 100% complete the map) and checking the map, the game gets a memory error and tells me to save and restart. I save and restart.

Suddenly, my inventory is gone. Empty. Lost while saving the game due to a bug. Along with the four items required to finish the game.

Why would you ever play something that long without backing up your save?
>> No.39150
>>39127
Because the game won't accept the save even if you place it back to prevent cheating (for example, you would be able to revert to an earlier point after making a dumb mistake). I could have played the newest version of the game that does allow permasaving, but the game was originally intended with permadeath so that's the way I play it.
>> No.39159
>>39150
It just seems silly to not be able to backup your save since something like a crash is not your fault.
>> No.39184
>>39150
You could back up the whole game instead then. Can't be that large.
