Is it a bad thing that visual novels are becoming more mainstream?
>> No.16209
>June 2009
They were "mainstream" (lol) a good few years before that, dude.
>> No.16210
>>16209
Mainstream is not a boolean thing, it's either 'mainstream' or 'not mainstream'. It's becoming more and more mainstream. It was relatively mainstream back in 2009 as well, but it's becoming even much more mainstream than it was back then.
>> No.16211
No.
>> No.16212
If it means I have to deal with a bunch of emoticon-abusing faggots, then yes.
>> No.16214
It means more VNs will get translated, both by fans and officially, which is a good thing.

Yeah, they will also attract even more retards to the "communites", but who cares?
"Mainstream" sites dealing with Japanese "culture" have always been terrible.
>> No.16215
I don't care as long as more games get translated. For the most part I ignore the VN community anyway, so it doesn't bother me. Even just a few years ago we were lucky to get a couple decent visual novels translated each year.
>> No.16218
Most of them just read stuff like shuffle and koihime musou anyhow.
>> No.16223

Something I've noticed is that Asian people tend to use emoticons a lot more than other people.

Regardless, Singaporeans are terrible.

Of course not. Visual novels becoming popular would mean that there'd be more translated games and perhaps worthwhile developments on this side of the Pacific. I don't know why people particularly care about the community as you can always find one that you actually like. Despite the freedoms of communication provided by the internet, it is quite easy to isolate yourself in small narrow-minded communities that would more suit your tastes.

>>16223
In general, most people don't have a problem with emotes in everyday e-chitchat.
>> No.16226
its not like community can actually get worse than it is now
>> No.16227
>>16218
Only because that's all that's translated.

Truly a satisfying conclusion to this riveting epic of love, rivalry and comradeship.
