Some of them murder people faster, some of them murder people more accurately, some of them can murder more people without having to reload, some of them have stronger recoil making it more difficult to properly murder people, and so on.

People have been trying to find more efficient methods to murder others since forever, and these are all just minor improvements to be able to murder more and more people.

I've always been fascinated by weapons.
They're usually pretty ugly, especially firearms, but there's something morbidly beautiful in sleek steel designed to take a person's life.

Not the same person, but to give an example, the AK-47 was an excellent rock-thrower, but it jumped too much whenever it threw a rock and when it throws rock really fast it gets hard to throw it where you want.
So the solution for this was for it to throw smaller rocks - ending in a rock-size change in AK-74.

On a tangent, I hate this recent denial of these tools of force, as if they are all that is wrong with the world and making them go away is going to somehow make the things that made us make them in the first place go away. It's like trying to solve the bank problem by abolishing money, or trying to solve the food crisis by banning poor people. Not only do you not solve the problem, the denial of the things we think are giving us problems at the first glance will just make us ignorant and hesitant to admit to the real causes behind these problems. It's the lazy solution, and these pseudo-intellectuals waving peace banners - who understand as much about the subject (crime and force) as a pig does flying - are clinging to it like the south on slavery.

OP here,

to answer your question, the difference are :
- different caliber
- different mechanism
- different shape
- different weight
- different accuracy

if you take a weapon from a certain industry, and you take the same made by an other one, you will see the diffrences, one of these indutries make a weapon more heavy and less acurate than the other, just like everything else

here's one more

But banning guns will decrease gun crime. If some person wished all the guns and gun producing facilities to disappear you can bet on a lower crime rate throughout the world. It's alot easier to threaten with a gun or pull a trigger than to stab/threaten with a knife.

>like trying to solve the bank problem by abolishing money
You need money for society to run.
>solve the food crisis by banning poor people
Even if you ban people for being poor some of the rich would get poor too right? Well I'm not sure about that but this idea is also wrong and people would call it inhumane to kill off poor people.
>banning guns
Now why not? What other purpose do guns serve other to kill stuff? You going to fight the government? Good luck trying to shoot at tanks and other armored vehicles.

Judging from your response, you will probably still defend guns no matter what people some say(close minded).

In fact, I used to love guns back when I all I played were fps games. It's like people defending violent video games. The people defending them mostly don't care whether or not the games can actually harm you but defend it because they enjoy them themselves. I remember the first time playing MoH:AA. That game made me really interested in war and hell I wanted to experience the D-day landings because I thought it was so cool. I remember making a pledge to join the army when I grow up because of that game. These violent games can definitely hurt some individuals and most certainly kids who grow up on them. It's a shame alot of this generation is growing up on shitty CoD shooters.

Just like guns, if you were to ban all these games there would be alot less gun nuts because there would be less people into it.

You might not agree with me, but I know that feeling too. Not everyone will accept loli, even though it doesn't hurt anyone. And even I can't deny it but sometimes when I see a cute 3d loli I will want to cuddle with her and I don't know if it is my lolicon mind that is giving me that feeling. So in a way someone could just say: ban all anime!

And that would make me feel sad.

>If some person wished all the guns and gun producing facilities to disappear you can bet on a lower crime rate throughout the world.
Stopped reading, sorry. Crime is not an invention of the firearm. In a world without guns, or for the sake of your argument let's say any easily operable weapon with significant force and range, how are the police going to subdue a fleeing criminal? Stop where I am and put my hands in the air? Sure thing officer, I'd hate to have a billy club thrown at me.

Ok, so our theoretical world has guns, but guns are banned. Except that's not theoretical. It's not even uncommon. Instead of arguing about this, I offer you the US government's thoughts:

http://www.google.com/search?q=site%3A.gov+"crime+rate"+gun+ban

Scan through it, you will find that the large amount of sample data we have about this matter shows that restricting the availability of firearms will not decrease crime rate. Even cops disagree with you:

how far does law enforcement extend? does military count?

The military is very much specialized in murder of others, does that make them criminals? If so, should they be allowed to have guns?

What's stopping military personnels from deserting and becoming "real criminals"? Will you be denying the fact that 1/8th of the mexican army deserted to become part of the drug cartels every year from 2003 until at least 2007?(http://articles.latimes.com/2007/may/20/world/fg-zetas20)

If law enforcement are the only ones with guns and they suddenly start sending convincing letters to senators regarding laws and funding for the police departments while holding a banquet for their family members heavily protected by their own, are they really different from criminals?
>> No.17935
>>17930
The amount of gun crime in the U.S. is more a culture-problem than a gun-problem.
Look at Canada, they have tons of guns, but basically no gun crimes when compared to their neighbouring country.
>> No.17945

Tasers and similar non-fatal weapons. A criminal without a gun is easy to subdue (and less likely to commit a crime considering the disadvantage in power they have).

Guns are dangerous no matter who you give them to. The person with the gun is in the advantage. The only way to solve the problem is to erase all guns everywhere on the planet, and prevent any new ones from ever being made - something as difficult to reach as stopping crime and achieving world peace.

So, the only thing we can do is restrict guns to people who can use them responsibly. I don't mean the US 'everybody should have a gun' way, but only allowing people who actually need them (law enforcement, army, people who regularly shoot targets as a hobby and can prove it) to have them. As >>17935 pointed out, it's a culture problem. "Everybody needs a gun to shoot whoever trespasses on his property" is a wrong mindset that makes people use firearms irresponsibly.
>> No.17946

This was important:
>any easily operable weapon with significant force and range

Anything the police can have, so can criminals. And once again, crime is not an invention of the firearm. What studies have proven that a person is less likely to decide to commit a crime if they do not have a gun? I can't tell if you're naive or trolling.
>> No.17947
>>17945
>A criminal without a gun is less likely to commit a crime.
Nope, crime has been going on since Eve stole that fruit, you know.
Rather than guns, I'd say that the existence of money is more the origin of crime. Studies have shown that in societies without money (jungle tribes, pacific islands and shit) crime is incredibly rare. Good luck on banning money.

Second to cash I'd say the culture and general mind-set of the population is at fault, but I already mentioned that.

>So, the only thing we can do is restrict guns to people who can use them responsibly.
All first-world countries do this already (I guess). Except for the US of A, but they don't count.

OP here,

i made this thread to people who want to know a little bit more about guns, not about a someone who will troll because of "HURR MUDER TOOLS DERP IT CAN KILL CHILDREN HERP"

it's a murder tool only if you put it on bad hands, the military must follow rules now, VIETNAM IS FUCKING FINISHED OKAY ? now there's the geneva convention, pryoryti of all army ( except terrorist ), gain the alliance from the civillian, for the police, they can use all forces to arrest a suspect who flee, but they can use their gun ONLY if the zone is secure AND after 2 SOMATION, if they're is a civilian next to the suspect they CAN'T use their gun to avoid the collateral damage, SAME FOR THE ARMY, you can see on some emision, the french army, give red flags to the civilian, so if the civilans goes into a firefight, they dress the red flag and ALL soldier in the zone MUST cease fire.

but because the troll here is fucking hyppi who don't know shit about laws and civilian protection i delete this thread tomorow so for the people who want a .rar full of firearm picture put their e-mail.

thank you

Yes. That, or give the deer a rifle of its own to fight back with.

>I'm not sure what the challenge is supposed to be
Have you ever tried to get close to a deer? Have you fired a rifle at a target over 50 yards away? How about a moving target over 100 yards away? Would you even know where to shoot a deer to kill it? What time would you wait for them? Where?

Bonus points:

You've killed a deer. When you shot the deer, you were about a mile away from your vehicle. After being shot, the deer ran for another mile. There are now two miles of woodland between you and your vehicle. The buck you shot weighs 150 lbs. What do you do?

Hint:

The answer is not "Leave the deer behind".

Funny story, I just finished the remains of a delicious deer steak dinner from last night. You know what I don't understand? Why Touhou is challenging. You just move around and avoid things while shooting at something until it dies.

In many parts of the US, we've killed off all the deer's natural predators, so humans are the main creatures left to feed on them. If they aren't hunted, they overpopulate, eat too much of the greens in the fall, and starve to death over the winter. They're really kind of like free-range cattle.

Just yesterday I went to a shooting range with some friends using a couple of old shotguns. It was my first time using a gun, but it was pretty fun.

Here's a (shitty) picture of the guns we used. I don't know much about guns, but if I recall correctly, the top is a 12 gauge shotgun, middle is a 20 gauge and the bottom is a 410 gauge shotgun.

libyan land battleship :

Onto a battlefield littered with bizarre homemade weaponry, Libya's ruling militia fighters have rolled out their weirdest contraption yet: a concrete and steel behemoth that's a cross between a bulldozer and a battleship.

The towering monster, which appeared today in Sirte to help capture Muammar Gaddafi's home town, has a battleship's pointed prow and portholes along its sides with steel covers that can be pulled down.

Clad in concrete sandwiched between steel plates, it is painted in the colours of the new national flag - red, green and black.

Built onto a tracked bulldozer in then-rebel workshops in the city of Misrata, the new weapon is designed to smash through roadblocks and barricades.

The vehicle is also manned by four gunners who have five heavy machine guns to fire and a tank gun mounted on top.

A video camera mounted on the front was damaged by gunfire and he has to rely on two comrades peering out of slits at the front to guide him.

A commander wearing a gold-braided ship's captain's hat sat on top and shouted directions as Ali manoeuvred up to the battlefront.

Asked about his headgear, he said: "It's my lucky hat!"
