Let's play together, /bun/!

http://www.havenandhearth.com/portal/

In the character creation room, go to the guy in the corner and right-click him. He'll ask you for a hearth secret; enter '/bun/'. Then a set of stairs appears, go down those stairs (don't go up the ladder) and you'll end up at the same place as everyone else who goes down those stairs.

Currently the place is rather empty, so let's build a village together!

What error do you get?

I looked around in the forums, and it seems my nvidia processor is causing some problems. I'm trying to fix it now, but here's the error log I get... It's huge:

Actually, sounds like a connection error. I remember that back when the webserver was down, people would also get exceptions in Resource.checkerr. Are you sure your firewall isn't blocking something? It looks like it can't download the images and crashes because of that.
>> No.22543
>>22542
I'll check, thanks.
>> No.22544

I added exceptions, but I still can't run it. I'm getting the same errors.

Oh, you're right...running the webclient, I get the same error. My offline client works fine, though...

Then what do I do? It looks like a pretty cool game, so I'd like to try it out.

What if you download Ender's modified client ( http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?bl66v7d6qp1bcdo for x32, http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?dheqe0pebzoh7gr for x64 )? Not sure if the webclient is just fucked or my own modifications (fix against the webserver downtime mentioned in >>22542) are the only reasons my client still runs.

Thank you, I'll try that then.

Anybody else unable to log in even on Ender's? Started happening to me today, haven't been able to log in all day.
>> No.22576
Oh hell no, not playing this again until world 6.
>> No.22577
I don't have any problems logging in, but to be honest, this game is really boring.
>> No.22613
watch out for the russians dude
>> No.22614
What the hell. OP here, I tested from another PC and suddenly it's working fine, even using the webclient.
>> No.22618
I don't know if they still play, but /jp/ used to have a village around (15,121).
>> No.22625
Only two other players? That's kind of disappointing, seeing as those two players don't even seem active...I'm considering changing the HS and inviting people outside of /bun/ as well because playing with only three (mostly inactive) people isn't very fun.

>>22618
They don't anymore.
>> No.37729
I'm going to try this game today.

I want to try it too! Some other time.

Pretty far in the world for that, just going to get killed on sight or palibashed for fun unless you join an established village or find an extremely secluded spot far away from water.
>> No.37737
>>37735
Getting killed is rare regardless of when you play, and getting looted unless you're well-hidden is inevitable either way. For the past two worlds, there's been palibashers since like a week after the world started.

Just don't make your location obvious and don't make any enemies. That includes NEVER, EVER stealing. You WILL die for it.
>> No.37738
>>37737

Eh not really. Even russian bot factions won't have a basher until around 3 weeks. Place I was at was extremely dangerous with random newb ganks everywhere, albiet it was a pretty crowded area (and we were doing a lot of that eventually too, I had a 500ua basher a month in).

But with the current state of the game for serious players there isn't much to do after you're built up other than raid, which means bashing and killing for enjoyment, making it real hard for beginners once a world has reached that point.

If you have a brick wall you're pretty safe though, nobody is going to camp you for 24 hours.

Got bored of the game due to reasons including people to play with though, didn't know there were still bunners playing this, could've played with us! Maybe world 8.
>> No.37739
Have they fixed the crippling lag yet?
>> No.37742
>>37739
Actually, yes, they did at some point. Lag might have returned by now, but for a while it was relatively lag-free.
>> No.37768

I-I picked up some dreams today since the catchers were at random inhabitated places. Did I fuck up? I'm still a dirty wanderer sleeping in spruce bough beds.

Stealing is when you have the Theft skill and turn criminal acts on to take an object from a container on a claim, take a liftable object off a claim, plus some special cases. Doing so, even on an abandoned claim, will leave scents (Reek of Theft) which can and will be used to find your hearth fire, find the stolen object, and summon you while you're offline so you can be killed (that last one requires people to be able to see your hearth fire, so if you place it in a house they need to break in).

Stealing from unclaimed land does not leave any scents and nobody will know you did it unless you were caught in the act. Same goes for vandalism and 'trespassing' on unclaimed terrain. Doing this requires neither criminal skills nor criminal acts to be turned on.

Furthermore, some things can be "stolen" from claims without actually stealing. If you want to try this you might want to not learn the Theft ability since it can cause you to make a mistake. Using the Trespassing skill and having criminal acts turned on, you can interact with some objects that give you items as a result of interaction. Examples include taking branches and cones from high-quality trees and using buckets to take liquids from barrels. Doing so will leave only trespassing scents, which cannot be used to kill you and except for very severe cases (like stealing the only wine from a small active town) will just be ignored. Again, be sure not to learn the Theft skill so you don't accidentally really steal something by mistake.

TL;DR: Don't learn Theft and you won't get yourself killed for stealing. Stealing from unclaimed land is fair game if you don't get caught in the act.

(Also, nobody cares about dreamcatchers.)
>> No.37773
Do we still spawn at the bun point?
>> No.37774
>>37773
OP here, I haven't set '/bun/' as hearth secret this world. Unless someone else has done this, you can't spawn at a specific place by entering '/bun/'.
>> No.37777
>>37771
I'll keep that in mind, thank you.

Is there going to be a /bun/ revival?
>> No.37793
Well I started wandering around for a few hours, working towards building a boat.
Where is everyone?
>> No.37794
>>37793
If by 'everyone' you mean people from /bun/, if I recall correctly nobody joined when I originally posted this thread. If by 'everyone' you mean other players in general, they can be found here and there, but generally meeting other players is not a good thing. Note that once you have a boat, travel will go MUCH faster.
