difference between typical japanese body proportions and manga character body proportions
>>55311 These are both by the mangaka Kubonouchi Eisaku, who gives out a lot of advice on Twitter. I can't really remember details but I think he posted this in response to a fan's question about drawing faces from various angles
I'll attempt a full translation of this one. Hand-washing: dream vs. realityDream: In anime and manga you sometimes see this, but if you did this IRL you could get your DROOL on it... NO THANK YOU!!!Reality: hold it under your JAWhold it in you ARMPIThold it in your THIGHS (I do this occasionally)
how to put on stocking tightsshaka shaka
>>55313But what is she holding?
>>55317it's a hand towel. Some Japanese public restrooms don't supply fancy things like paper towels and buttwiping paper, so people have to make like a boy scout and always be prepared. (I've never been there but that's what I've heard.) So a schoolgirl might carry her own hanky around. She has to take it out of her pocket before wetting her hands, obviously.
>>55294;_; why go through all that trouble to capture it and not move it outside instead of killing?
>>55329you probably won't like this picture of a penguin being murdered

how to do an alternating bath in your home1. soak in a bath of 41 to 43 degrees until sweat comes from your forehead2. Wash yourself in a cold shower, starting from your hands and legs and other parts that are far from your heart. It's still effective even if you can only keep it up for 10 to 30 seconds.3. Get in the bath again.Repeat steps 2 and 3 about 3 times4. I feel somehow stimulated! "it's ready!"Caution: Finish with cold shower. Not recommended for those with weak hearts or bodies.
>>55360That doesn't seem healthy. At all.
>>55366It's an actual thing, assuming the Wikipedia article is reputable. Though I don't know why anyone would do it for fun in their home. Maybe it somehow fucks with your circulation and gives you a euphoric feeling?https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Contrast_bath_therapy
>>55367Well, there are people out there who actually enjoy cold showers. Probably masochists.
>>55341Does anyone really understand what this infograph means?I'm guessing that the arrows are supposed to point out masculine and feminine characteristics, and the size conveys the degree of femininity/masculinity, right? But there are arrows of varying sizes on both sides, so which one is the more feminine example? Or am I completely misinterpreting this chart?

The world as it appears to human eyes vs the world as it is (typically) portrayed in graphical perspectiveLeft: Curvilinear (lit. "hyperbolic linear") perspective. The perspective near the vertex looks natural, but most of the straight lines are portrayed as curved. Perspective on leaning figures becomes very complicated. Many opportunities for error, so not generally useful.Right: Within two-point perspective, three-point perspective is used to construct leaning objects. For the same reason [difficulty/error prone?], it's sometimes done with one-point perspective instead.
What people really see vs portrayal in perspective drawings pt 2Left: This is what you really see. It's called curvilinear perspective. Objects appear smaller not only as you go directly away from the camera, but also as you go to the left or right. (I've exaggerated the distortion in the above image to make it easier to understand.)Right: Commonly used perspective. Just like in three point perspective, because objects are the same size no matter how far to the left or right they are, it differs from real-life perception more as you go nearer the edge of the image. This is how it is in photos. [actually unclear on what he means in that last sentence. Photos are most definitely not 1 point perspective.]
On Distortion in Two-Point Perspective1st vanishing point and horizon line are labeled. Second vanishing point is way off to the right.Right block is "normal" [i.e. no distortion.]Left block is unnaturally distorted. The farther away from [i.e. to the left of] the vanishing point you get, the worse the distortion will be. You can cover up the distortion with another object so it's not such an eyesore. If you're really having trouble, just keep the vanishing point outside of the frame.
