Since a lot of us like other kinds of music, and certain users complain about our glorious black metal threads, lets have our own thread to be free of the persecution.

-No bad music. Since you are anonymous posting bad music would embarrass the board as a whole. I will single you out if you like garbage.
-No gay stuff. Aeroplane over the sea was so 1998.

Been listening to Nujabes a lot lately. There were a lot of threads on /a/ about his death lately, one of them linking to a download site, so I got four of his albums. I really liked what I heard, can anyone recommend me something similar?

I'd also like to listen to more stuff similar to ELP and King Crimson. I'm not very knowledgeable when it comes to music so help would be very appreciated.
>> No.8430

Very good groups. I was sad when Nujabes died, he was my most listened to artist for awhile. I was always excited when new stuff from him came out. Unfortunately that has ended ;_;

Some stuff similar to him:
daedelus (not nearly as good as the rest)

Also it's probably a good idea to check out some of his collaboration artists. Shing02 and Cyne (if you can stomach their multiracial crap) are the best.

I'm also a pretty big King Crimson fan so I think you should check out camel

And also Ayreon if you like progressive metal. It doesn't have that 70's progressive funky sound, but it's way better.

We like talking dirty
We smoke and we drink
We're KMFDM and all other bands stink

Our music is sampled, totally fake
It's done by machines, 'coz they don't make mistakes

We don't have no lyrics, our message is nil
We hate all DJs, they're makin' us ill
Whatever we tell you, is meant to be crap
We hate all music, and especially rap

We don't like Michael Jackson
We hate Depeche Mode
We don't care for Madonna
Or Kylie Minogue

KMFDM Sucks!

Our records have stickers, with a warning from Tipper
'Coz they're no good for kids, if we'd get her we'd strip her

KMFDM forward, the ultimate sound
And a message from Satan, if you turn it around

You might think we're stupid, but we're way above it
We don't give a shit, and the kids just love it

We won't sell to a major, for a couple of bucks
No doubt about it, KMFDM sucks!
KMFDM Sucks!

Bow for me, inferior
I demand you in the name of the horns
For I am the one
To bring the demise of the bearer of thorns
You who's father
so pityful upon the cross died
Behold it inverted
And burning under the nightsky

Inferior lord of heaven
Your might shall fade
Jesus has wept
On goathorns impaled

Unclean vermins, scum of the earth
Blow your heads for the dark ages birth

Black fire cast your flames high
Above the realms of light
Behorned father Satan
Show them all your might
Taste the blood
And the decayed flesh of his sons
Behold the desecration
Of the weaker and feeble ones

A cross burned black
Soaked in sacred blood
From all of us to all of you:
Go fuck your jewish god

Inferior lord of heaven
Your might shall fade
Jesus has wept
On goathorns impaled

Black fire cast your flames high
Above the realms of light
Behorned father Satan
Show them all your might

He lives through me
All of what I am
The needle of hamartia
Injected in the flesh of man
With the soul of a carrion
Sleeping, yet awake
For underneath this skin
Crawls eden's cursed snake

Hic est draco caudam suam devorans!

You may have felt it's cold
Carressing down your spine
Gently yet with strength
And with a morbid touch
For its real shape is a razor
Smeared with the Devil's seed
And infected with it's plauge
Are the scars from which I bleed

I am the earth
Chained to horns
Its ground is my flesh
Pierced by Holy thorns
I am the earth
Burning deep within
It's water is my blood
Blackened by my sins

Swallowed by His mystery
Lots within it's maze
The bridges behind they burn
from the pyres of Hell's grace
One after another
The stars fade into black
He has called my name
There is no way back...

Pierced by His will
Trapped within His lair
My flesh shall be the sign
Of that fires are to fear
For those who walk upon me
Shall be punished for their turns
I am the earth
And within me the Devil burns!

I am the earth
In the shadow of the Lord
A crucifix of flesh
Yet sinfully adored
I am the earth
As your life with me does blend
I am His truth
The world without end...

The world without end.

Feel the coming of a storm
Of wrath burning red as blood
Thundering forth
With poison in veins and death in the eyes
Under banners as mirrors reflecting
The darkness above and below
And the eye...
The eye that is him

Bonecrush, bloodlust
Behold the remains of Jehovah in the dust
Suffocate, Desecrate
For Satan's return - Angelrape

Warlust fill my veins
As bullets in the heart of humanity
Darkness drown me
As carnal shreds of light soaked in blood
Cursed to wander
And to eternally despise
Forever to stride
For evil never dies...

The beauty of destruction
The passion of death
In your ashes

Bonecrush, bloodlust
Behold the remains of Jehovah in the dust
Suffocate, Desecrate
For Satan's return - Angelrape

I like this because it is spacey, and I too like shoegaze. The heavy thumps in the background give the track more power, also. But the lack of any significant peaks makes the song kind of unsatisfying. Pretty good.

I also like this. The bass is pretty fun and the song changes up a lot. Its like a funky punk song with a darker tint.

Sigh, especially their imaginary soundscape album, takes away from the formal icy edge of black metal. The album is more avant garde with its smooth, lucid synth use.

That happens to be the only song I could find by Glifted online, it's not necessarily my favorite. Every track on their album does basically focus on a loop, though. My favorite is definitely The Ground, it's probably the heaviest and has a feeling of turmoil or chaos that is very well portrayed. Every Single Second sounds strangely good to me, too. It roams and seems to lack real intent, but I enjoy the chorus for reasons I can't explain. Detached vocals are normally the reason I don't like shoegaze, so I don't know.

Have the album, it's good.

I'm no stranger to difficult music, I used to listen exclusively to avant-garde jazz. While I appreciate and am intrigued by the tightness and aggression in your first video, it doesn't do it for me. The two things I look for in rock is compelling momentum and piss and vinegar, and I'm not feeling the former. I'll look into the band though, I'm interested in seeing how they carry out their ideas.

I don't care much for post-hardcore and most of what I've heard from math rock, so my rec isn't meant to be authoritative. I know the songs are slickly produced and maybe a bit saccharinely poppy, but they're vibrantly imaginative and kick my ass with color, so it's all good.

By the way, that Dazzling Killmen vid reminded me of the recently released LP from Drunkdriver, though it's noisier and unmath-y: http://www.mediafire.com/?zxmrcuknudl

I always feel dirty after listening to industrial genres. Not really sarcastic. I think that's partially the effect the artists seek, so I guess it's no surprise.

On the other hand, The Prodigy makes me create this bubble in my head filled with a certain sort of badass 90's nostalgia. Gets me every time.

I wasn't meaning to talk down, I just wasn't sure how that would go over as a followup to relatively lighthearted math rock. I don't hate the album you've posted, but I'm not that hot on straight up hardcore. Part of what I enjoy about post-hardcore is that there's generally a bit of art or groove thrown in, versus unfiltered anger. Disclaimer: I understand and admit that most post-hardcore produced nowadays is just bad. I can appreciate raw emotion, but it's not something I seek to listen to casually. Better to share and experience it live.

Speaking of groove, have some rock.

Sluts of Trust - Piece O' You
>dat pedal stomping clean riff

Liars - This Dust Makes That Mud
>Video titled incorrectly, and edited to cut off 21 minutes of the last loop

Portishead is one of those cases where I couldn't stand the people that I knew who listened to them. I don't hate their music, but bad fan association just leaves a bad taste in your mouth, you know? Something I've been enjoying recently.

>'No Anchor' from Brisbane, Australia. A band with a unique destructive sound. A hybrid monster of stoner/ fuzz rock, sludge, doom & drone. Their energetic & distorted sound could be compared to some of the early rocking Boris tunes (Pink, Akuma No Uta), but played really angry & exhausted (Eyehategod comes to mind).

Might as well post this. The Norwegian hardcore-punk group Kvelertak (Norwegian for chokehold) released their self-titled debut album last year. Really top-notch, it's just a super boss album. It has some really ultimate amazing riffs.

The group has been criticised by hardcore purists for being shitty though, and ruining hardcore, but they don't know what they're talking about.

>> No.23278
Agree that these guys are pretty awesome. My first impression was metalcore if metalcore was fun and, you know, good. Combining the traits of metal and hardcore that are enjoyable, instead of the ones that make me want to cringe. It appears that the label blackened hardcore/punk is popular, but it:

1. Seems apparent to me that they're pulling from multiple areas in the metal spectrum, many of which aren't black.
2. Reminds me of food.
